Event Description:
Can I test for marijuana use? Now we have to do sexual harassment training? How much do I need to pay for  minimum wage?
Join the Bartlett and Elgin Area Chambers for a legal update on 2020’s new laws, as well a refresher on recent legal changes in the Marijuana/Cannabis laws from Mike Wong, a Partner with the law firm, SmithAmundsen.
During this presentation Mike will provide an update on federal and state labor and employment laws impacting Illinois employers, including the following:
Illinois Recreational and Medical Marijuana/Cannabis Laws
Drug Testing and Reasonable Suspicion with the new Marijuana/Cannabis Laws
DOT/FMCSA Clearinghouse Queries
IL Minimum Wage and Exempt Employee Record Keeping requirements
IL Human Rights Act changes and Reporting requirements
Sexual Harassment training
Severance Agreements and Arbitration Agreements
Although cannabis remains illegal under federal law, the legalization of cannabis on the state-level has left employers feeling uncertain of how to tailor their workplace policies and procedures to fit the changing landscape.
